Privacy Notice
This notice explains what communitysfdw.com does with data. The short version: the site asks readers for nothing, stores as little as the technology allows, and sells nothing to anyone.
What we do not collect
There are no reader accounts, no registration, no newsletter sign-up, no comment section and no contact form on this site. We therefore hold no names, no email addresses and no payment information for readers, except where someone writes to the desk voluntarily by email — in which case we hold only what that person chose to put in their message.
What is collected automatically
Like any website, this one is served by hosting infrastructure that keeps standard technical logs: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page and browser user-agent. Those logs exist for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults, and they are kept only as long as the hosting provider’s normal retention allows. The site runs on WordPress; WordPress may set functional cookies for a logged-in administrator, but a reader browsing the site is not asked to log in and is not profiled by us.
Third parties and outbound links
When a reader follows an outbound link — including an affiliate link, as described in the affiliate notice — they leave this site and land on someone else’s, where that company’s own privacy policy, cookies and tracking apply. Affiliate programmes commonly record a referral through a cookie or a tagged URL so the referring site can be credited. We do not receive personal information about readers from those programmes; what comes back, if anything, is aggregate. We have no control over third-party sites and no ability to answer for their data practices, so their policies are worth reading before signing up to anything.
Email sent to the desk
Messages sent to [email protected] are kept only while they are useful — long enough to answer, and to keep a record of a correction and what prompted it. Correspondence is not added to any mailing list, is not shared with operators or advertisers, and is not sold. If a correction is published, the person who reported it is not named unless they explicitly ask to be.
Your rights
Depending on where a reader lives — Québec’s private-sector privacy law, Canada’s federal PIPEDA, or the GDPR in the European Economic Area — there are rights to ask what personal information an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. Because this site holds so little, most such requests concern email correspondence. Send the request to [email protected] and it will be handled directly.
Children
This site is intended for adults. The legal gambling age in Québec is 18, content here is not directed at minors, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, the change is made on this page rather than announced and forgotten. Questions about any of it are welcome at the address above.
